Darktrace, the world’s leading AI company for cyber defense, has today announced that Bunim/Murray Productions, responsible for shows such as ‘Project Runway’, ‘The Real World’, and ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’, has selected Darktrace to defend its intellectual property from cyber-attacks.

Within one week of installing Darktrace, the Enterprise Immune System notified us to threats and vulnerabilities we had been totally unaware of,” said Gabe Cortina, VP of Technology, Bunim/Murray Productions. “Many of our employees bring in devices from home, but we had not realized this was introducing viruses and malicious software into our corporate network. Darktrace’s ability to learn what ‘normal’ looks like for every device and user enables us to detect and stop threats before they can do damage.”

Founded in 1987, Bunim/Murray Productions is a reality television pioneer and its programs have been recognized by Emmy, Peabody, and People’s Choice Awards. With the protection of its intellectual property a priority, Bunim/Murray chose Darktrace AI to secure its networks and award-winning content.

Powered by machine learning and AI algorithms, Darktrace’s Enterprise Immune System learns the normal ‘pattern of  life’ for every user and device on an organization’s network. Darktrace uses this dynamic understanding to detect and fight back against threats as they emerge, including insider threat, ‘low and slow’ attacks, and ‘unknown unknowns’, missed by other tools. Darktrace also slows and stops in-progress attacks by generating an autonomous response akin to digital antibodies, taking precise action against threatening activity, without interrupting business operations.

The Organization for Economic Development estimates that content theft around the world costs the media industry $838 billion a year,” commented Rob Sass, Managing Director, North America, Darktrace. “Malicious insiders, competing production companies, and criminal gangs all pose significant threats. Darktrace AI’s ability to detect and stop threats in real time enables security teams to regain the advantage over the attackers.”
