Statement regarding LockBit claims

Earlier this morning we became aware of tweets from LockBit, the cyber-criminal gang, claiming that they had compromised Darktrace’s internal security systems and had accessed our data. Our security teams have run a full review of our internal systems and can see no evidence of compromise. None of the LockBit social media posts link to any compromised Darktrace data. We will continue to monitor the situation extremely closely, but based on our current investigations we are confident that our systems remain secure and all customer data is fully protected.

Darktrace, a global leader in cyber security AI, today announced that the company has signed several million-dollar deals in the U.S., comprising a mix of significant new customer wins and existing contract renewals.

New customers include (but are not limited to):

  • A Fortune 500 merchandise retail chain with almost 1,000 stores across the U.S.
  • A healthcare services organization serving millions of plan participants nationwide

Renewal customers include (but are not limited to):

  • A specialty chemicals manufacturer serving customers in almost 100 countries
  • A multi-billion-dollar professional sports organization
  • A financial technology provider to some of the largest banks in the U.S.

Each of these industries faces highly organized threat actors orchestrating a growing number of cyber-attacks, including phishing, ransomware, data breaches, and distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. High-speed, automated attacks can reach numerous targets simultaneously.

Darktrace’s Self-Learning AI brings AI to the data, continually learning and updating its knowledge of how each organization operates. Its DETECT capability can discern deviations from that understanding of “normal,” delivering complete visibility into an organization’s digital ecosystem, while its RESPOND capability autonomously takes action to contain the threat, including zero-days, insider threats, and novel attacks.

These two technologies augment the human security team and empower organizations big and small to minimize cyber disruption. Each new or returning customer outlined uses various deployments of Darktrace’s award-winning security technologies, including DETECT, RESPOND, or a combination of both.

“The U.S. is a key market for us and we are thrilled to be protecting these businesses as they navigate the changing threat landscape,” said Poppy Gustafsson OBE, CEO at Darktrace. “As organizations face a growing level of sophisticated attacks, the need for autonomous, always-on, and AI-driven security is heightened – and we remain focused on our mission to free the world of cyber disruption.”
