Statement regarding LockBit claims

Earlier this morning we became aware of tweets from LockBit, the cyber-criminal gang, claiming that they had compromised Darktrace’s internal security systems and had accessed our data. Our security teams have run a full review of our internal systems and can see no evidence of compromise. None of the LockBit social media posts link to any compromised Darktrace data. We will continue to monitor the situation extremely closely, but based on our current investigations we are confident that our systems remain secure and all customer data is fully protected.

Darktrace Announces Early Launch into Japan

July 13, 2015

Darktrace, the leader in Enterprise Immune System technology for cyber threat detection, announces today that it has launched operations in Japan, just four months after opening its Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore.

Darktrace has extended its operations into Japan following a period of rapid growth in the Asia Pacific region, where demand is strong for a new approach to cyber security. Darktrace’s vision is to extend adoption of its unique technology and build an extensive partner network in Japan, providing Japanese companies with a new approach to defending against the most advanced cyber-threats, including insider threat.

Leveraging advanced machine learning and mathematics developed at the University of Cambridge, the Enterprise Immune System is a self-learning technology that automatically learns ‘normal’ and ‘abnormal’ behaviors within organizations of all sizes, and detects in-progress threats, without the use of rules or signatures. Enterprise Immune System technology is uniquely capable of detecting the most subtle cyber-threats within the network, including insider threat. It automatically and adaptively learns a normal ‘pattern of life’ for every user, device and network, in order to detect emerging behaviors that represent real threats. This self-learning technology provides corporations with comprehensive visibility into their networks’ activity, allowing them to proactively respond to threats and prevent damaging cyber-attacks. The technology will help Japanese organizations to take a proactive approach against subtle, advanced cyber attackers, including insider threats, operating within the network.

This announcement coincides with the opening day of the prestigious Gartner Security and Risk Management Summit at the Toranomon Hills Forum, Tokyo, where Darktrace experts will demonstrate the company’s award-winning Enterprise Immune System technology and real-time threat visualization interface.

John Kirch has been appointed as Regional Country Manager for North Asia at Darktrace, and will be responsible for building the company’s presence throughout Japan and other key markets in the region. Mr. Kirch has 25 years’ experience in Japan’s high-tech industry, specializing in enterprise software, and has previously held senior roles at Hyperion Solutions, WatchGuard Technologies and Cyberguard Corporation.

“Since launching in Asia Pacific earlier this year, we have been consistently impressed by the maturity of the cyber marketplace and the clear demand for proactive, intelligence-led security,” said Nicole Eagan, CEO of Darktrace. “We are excited to be expanding into the Japanese market earlier than scheduled, building up a network of partners, and ultimately helping organizations to address this new era of threat, using our unique Enterprise Immune System approach.”

To celebrate the launch, Darktrace is holding a Cyber Security Lunch Briefing in Tokyo’s Imperial Hotel on Wednesday 15th July. For more information, contact japan@darktrace.com or visit www.darktrace.com.
