Statement regarding LockBit claims

Earlier this morning we became aware of tweets from LockBit, the cyber-criminal gang, claiming that they had compromised Darktrace’s internal security systems and had accessed our data. Our security teams have run a full review of our internal systems and can see no evidence of compromise. None of the LockBit social media posts link to any compromised Darktrace data. We will continue to monitor the situation extremely closely, but based on our current investigations we are confident that our systems remain secure and all customer data is fully protected.

Darktrace, the leader in Enterprise Immune System technology, has today announced that KEEN, Inc. (KEEN) has deployed Darktrace’s innovative technology within its network.

Based in Portland, Ore., KEEN manufactures footwear for outdoor activities and lifestyle use. As one of the fastest-growing footwear manufacturers globally, KEEN’s products are distributed in more than 5,000 authorized online retailers and brick and mortar locations in more than 70 countries. KEEN considers security of its sensitive data a priority.

KEEN selected Darktrace’s Enterprise Immune System based on its capability to detect threats at their nascent stage.

Powered by machine learning developed by specialists from the University of Cambridge, Darktrace’s Enterprise Immune System technology works by learning ‘self’ for every device and user, as well as the network as a whole. It builds an evolving understanding of an organization’s ‘pattern of life’ in order to then identify emerging threats, without the use of rules, signatures, or prior knowledge.

“Machine learning is critical as we move towards more automated and fast attacks,” said Clark Flannery, KEEN’s Director of Information Technology. “The reality is that you can’t keep everything from getting in the network. Darktrace’s Enterprise Immune System helps us visualize what is already inside our network, and mitigates threats, as they emerge”.

“Retail institutions are increasingly finding legacy approaches insufficient to address the challenges of a rapidly-evolving threat landscape,” added Rob Sass, Managing Director, North America, Darktrace. “Darktrace is unique in its ability to detect unknown threats and insider action without pre-defining what ‘bad’ looks like. We are pleased to be helping KEEN detect anomalies in real time and prevent new types of threats from escalating.”
